Authentic Torta Cubana

  • 400 grams beef cutlet
  • some vegetable oil, for frying the beef cutlets and sausages  
  • 1 cup sausages, cut into halves lengthwise
  • 1 cup chorizo
  • 5 eggs
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 4 telera rolls
  • 1/4 cups butter, for spreading
  • 1/2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cups mustard
  • 400 grams pork leg, spicy
  • 1 cup Oaxaca cheese
  • 1 cup American cheese
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1/2 onions, cut into rings
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • chile, cut into strips, for garnish

  • In a pot with hot oil, fry beef cutlets for 10 minutes or until cooked through. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Set aside.
  • In a skillet, fry sausages for 5 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.
  • Fry chorizo, add eggs, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes and set aside.
  • Spread telera heels and crowns with mayonnaise and beans. Place beef cutlet on top of the telera heel. Top with spicy pork leg, sausages, chorizo with eggs, Oaxaca cheese, American cheese, tomato, onion, and avocado. On a griddle, heat authentic torta cubana until cheese melts.
  • Serve authentic torta cubana with pickled chile strips.
