  • For the mashed potatoes: In a pot, add water and bring to a boil. Add salt and potatoes. Cook for 20 minutes and set aside.  Using a masher, mash potatoes and add milk little by little. Add butter, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and mix thoroughly.  
  • Cook until a thick and velvety consistency is reached. Add extra milk if necessary. Set aside.
  • For the gravy: In a pot over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and stir constantly with a wooden spatula. Once brown, pour beef broth and stir constantly to keep lumps from forming. Add salt, pepper, and cook gravy until thickened.
  • Serve garlic mashed potatoes & gravy.
