Crispy BBQ Chicken Wings

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cups chipotle chile in adobo sauce
  • 1/2 cups raw sugar
  • 1/4 cups honey
  • 2 tablespoons old style mustard
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce,
  • 1/4 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cups whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 kilo chicken wings
  • 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cups cornstarch
  • some vegetable oil, for frying
  • vegetables, carrot, cucumber, and jicama, cut into sticks
  • ranch dressing, for serving

  • For the BBQ sauce: In a small pot over low heat, melt butter. Add garlic powder, ketchup, chipotle chile in adobo sauce, raw sugar, honey, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, whiskey, cayenne pepper, and onion powder. Cook until thickened. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, season chicken wings with salt and pepper. Coat with flour and cornstarch, remove excess, and set aside.
  • In a small pot, heat oil and fry chicken wings until cooked through. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
  • In a bowl, dip chicken wings in BBQ sauce until completely covered.
  • Serve crispy BBQ chicken wings with vegetable sticks and ranch dressing on the side.
