Chocolate Doughnut Twists

  • 1 envelope yeast, 0.3 oz
  • 1/4 cups cow's milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cups butter
  • 1/3 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cups cow's milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • some flour, for rolling
  • some vegetable oil
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate, melted
  • white chocolate, for garnish

  • In a bowl, hydrate yeast with milk. Let rest 5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, butter, hydrated yeast, sugar, milk, egg, salt, and cinnamon powder. Knead until a firm dough is formed.
  • Transfer dough to a previously greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • On a floured surface, cut the dough into portions of about 2.4 ounces. Using your hand, roll each dough portion and twist.
  • Arrange doughnut twists on a baking sheet and let proof for 15 minutes.
  • In a small pot over medium heat, heat oil and fry donut twists for about 5 minutes until brown on both sides. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
  • Dip doughnut twists in melted chocolate and let dry. Garnish with drizzled white chocolate. Let dry completely.
  • Serve chocolate doughnut twists paired with a glass of cold milk.
