Easter Cookie Ornaments

These cute and easy Easter cookie ornaments are perfect to give away during the Spring season! These cute sugar cookies shaped and garnished like traditional Easter eggs are great to make with the kids. Garnished with a ribbon and decorated with colorful icing, these buttery and soft cookies with a hint of vanilla are a sweet treat no one can resist.

  • 450 grams flour
  • 250 grams butter
  • 250 grams sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • food coloring, mix of colors
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 2 limes

  • Preheat oven to 356 °F.
  • In a bowl, cream butter with a mixer. Once creamy, add sugar. In another bowl, mix baking powder and flour and set aside.
  • Add egg to the creamed butter and sugar and mix thoroughly. Add salt and vanilla and mix.
  • Then gradually incorporate the flour mixture until a smooth dough remains.
  • Add flour mixture little by little and mix until a smooth cookie dough is obtained.
  • Divide cookie dough into two, place both portions in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  • Flour a flat surface and roll out cookie dough to 0.1-inch thickness.
  • Using an egg cookie cutter, cut out cookies and poke a small hole in each one.
  • Arrange cookies on a previously greased and floured or parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake until the edges turn golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool. Once cold, decorate.
  • For the icing: In a bowl, mix icing sugar and lime juice little by little.
  • Divide the icing into as many different bowls as desired colors.
  • Cover each cookie with a different color icing and refrigerate for 15 minutes. Once set, keep decorating cookies with colorful lines, polka dots, and more, and refrigerate for 15 more minutes.
