Mexican Tricolor Popcorn Clusters

Homemade popcorn is simply irresistible and even more when you use it to prepare this recipe for Mexican tricolor popcorn clusters! A delicious snack, these sweet and tasty popcorn clusters are covered with chocolate of different colors, a fun touch that makes them ideal to celebrate the Mexican Independence or even Christmas!

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups popcorn kernels
  • 3 cups white chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon food coloring, red
  • 1 teaspoon food coloring, green

  • Heat a pot with oil over medium heat. Add popcorn and cover with a lid. Stir constantly without removing the lid for 5 minutes. Once popcorn pop, remove from heat and reserve.
  • In a pot bring water to a boil. Put white chocolate in a container over the pot with boiling water to create a water bath. Melt for 5 minutes and remove.
  • Divide chocolate into three equal parts and pour into different containers. Add green edible food coloring to one container and red edible food coloring to another. Chocolate in one container must remain white.
  • Divide popcorn into three and make clusters with each color. Cool and serve.
