Authentic Pozol

A Mexican classic ready to be prepared at home! This refreshing and traditional beverage is made with nothing more than hominy corn, cocoa, piloncillo, and water. By preparing this authentic pozol you are taking home a bit of Mexico’s culinary legacy!

  • 1/4 kilos hominy corn
  • 100 grams cocoa
  • granulated piloncillo
  • some water
  • some ice cubes

  • On a griddle, toast cocoa until charred and until peel comes off easily. Peel cocoa with your hands and set aside.
  • Transfer hominy corn and cocoa to a metate (mealing stone) or a food processor and grind to a paste.
  • Place paste in a bowl, add water, and dissolve with your hands.
  • Once dissolved, add ice and sweeten homemade pozol.
