Colorful Jicaletas

Time to let the sugar, chile powder, food coloring, jicama, and chamoy team up to create a rainbow of flavor and color! No more than 7 ingredients and 20 minutes of prep time are needed to make these colorful jicaletas happen.   • 3 cups sugar, for the colorful chile powder
  • 1/2 cups chile powder
  • some food coloring, mix of colors (purple, blue, yellow, pink, green, and orange)
  • 1 jicama, large, peeled 
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 1 cup chamoy
  • 1 cup chile powder

  • In a bowl, combine sugar and ½ cup of chile powder. Divide mixture into 6 small airtight glass jars. Add a drop of a different food coloring to each glass jar. Close each airtight glass jar. Shake several times until chile powder changes color. Set aside.
  • On a chopping board, cut jicama into thick slices. Cut slices with cookie cutters. Thread each jicama slice onto a wooden skewer and set aside.
  • Dip jicamas in lime juice and chamoy. Coat jicamas with colorful or plain chile powder. Serve colorful jicaletas.
