Crazy Watermelon

This out-of-the-world Mexican-style sandía loca is a yummy and unique recipe ready to be prepared for the weekend or a small friend’s gathering. Spicy and delish, this insanely delicious treat combines both candies and drool-worthy fruit to make it come true. A bit of orange, watermelon, cucumber, mango, chamoy, tamarind candy sticks, and cracker nuts are what you need to prepare this crazy watermelon!

  • 1/2 watermelons, cut lengthwise and hollowed out 
  • 2 oranges, cut into half-moons, for the skewers
  • 1 mango, fanned 
  • 1 pineapple, sliced and cut into eighths
  • 1 cucumber, cut in half and hollowed out 
  • 1 cup spicy gummies
  • 1 cup cracker nuts, and spicy cracker nuts
  • 4 tamarind candy sticks, chile-coated
  • 10 tamarind candies, chile-coated
  • 1 cup chamoy candies, mixed 
  • 1 bag potato chips
  • 1 cup chile powder
  • 1 cup chamoy

  • On a chopping board, cut out triangles along the edge of the watermelon and hollow it out slightly. Cut watermelon flesh into cubes and set aside.
  • Thread watermelon triangles, orange half-moons, and pineapple slices onto a wooden skewer. Set aside.
  • On the same chopping board, cut cucumber in half and hollow it out to form cups. Dip cucumber cups in chamoy and chile powder. Stuff cucumber cups with cracker nuts and spicy cracker nuts. Set aside.
  • Insert wooden fruit skewers in the watermelon. Stuff hollowed out watermelon with spicy gummies and snacks. Top crazy watermelon with chile powder and chamoy.
