Cider Pork Leg

  • 4 cups cider
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  • 3 tablespoons rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 pork leg, boneless, 4.4 to 6.6 lbs
  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 3 red apples, cut into wedges
  • 3 green apples, cut into wedges
  • 1 cup apple jam
  • some cherries, for garnish
  • some orange, or any other citrus fruit, cut into wheels, for garnish
  • some rosemary, fresh, for garnish

  • Preheat oven to 392 °F.
  • Combine cider, apple juice, orange juice, garlic, onion, cinnamon, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper in a blender. Blend until smooth. Set aside.
  • On a chopping board, cut the outer layer of the pork leg in diagonal to make diamond cuts. Season with salt and pepper. Rub pork leg with butter. Place on a baking dish.
  • Arrange apples. Pour over cider mixture. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove pork leg from oven. Uncover and brush pork leg with apple jam. Bake again for 40 minutes, uncovered, glazing constantly with drippings and jam.
  • Remove from oven. Let rest for some minutes before slicing. Serve cider pork leg garnished with cherries, orange wheels, rosemary, and cooked apples.
