Guatemalan Shucos

Shucos are one of the most popular Guatemalan street foods. Made with different kinds of meat, Guatemalan shucos are a take on the classic American hot dog that combines traditional flavors from Guatemala cuisine, like longaniza and guacamole, adding a Latin American touch to this filling dish.

  • On a chopping board cut longaniza and sausages in half, lengthwise.
  • Heat a skillet over high heat and grill longaniza and sausages on both sides. Reserve.
  • Grill hot dog buns and reserve.
  • For assembling the Guatemalan shucos: On each hot dog bun spread guacamole. Place one half of longaniza and one half of sausage. Top with cabbage, ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard.
