  • In a bowl, mix yeast, water, and sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Sift flour and pile into a mound. Add yeast, eggs, and milk.
  • Add vanilla essence, orange zest, and butter. Knead until an elastic and non-sticky dough is formed. Add more flour if necessary. Slap and fold dough. Place dough in a greased bowl and let rest until double in size.
  • Knead and ball dough.
  • Make a hole in the center of the dough ball and stretch dough from the center out with your wrist to form a ring. Let sit in a warm place until dough doubles in size. Brush ring with egg. Add dried fruit on top and insert plastic figurines through the bottom part of the ring.
  • Preheat oven to 356 °F.
  • For the drizzled chocolate: In a bowl, mix vegetable shortening, flour, and icing sugar until perfectly incorporated. Keep in the fridge. Form dough balls and flatten them with your hands. Place on top of the three kings cake.
  • Bake for 40 to 50 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
  • Melt chocolate. Using a spoon, drizzle chocolate on top of the chocolate drizzled three kings cake.
