Easy
  • For the dough: In a mixer with the C-hook attachment, mix flour, sugar, yeast, eggs, milk, and salt. Once completely incorporated, add butter and mix until a smooth and elastic dough is formed. Add orange zest and mix for 2 more minutes.
  • Grease a bowl with cooking spray and place dough in. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 2 hours or until doubled in size. Set aside.
  • For the crust: In a mixer bowl, add flour, icing sugar, and butter and mix with a silicone spatula until a paste is formed. Divide into two and set aside.
  • Tint one half of the paste with pink food coloring. Tint remaining half of the paste with red food coloring. Using a spoon, mix each paste until evenly tinted. Set aside.
  • Flour your fist and punch down dough to remove excess air. Flour a flat surface and place dough. Form 2.8-ounce dough balls and arrange them on a previously greased and floured baking sheet. Let proof for 20 minutes and set aside.
  • Line a tortilla press with butcher paper. Place a small crust ball in the middle and flatten to the size of the dough balls. Repeat until the pink and red pastes are used up. Set aside.
  • Cover each dough ball with a flattened crust. Score crust with a concha cutter. Using kitchen shears, cut a “V” at the top of each concha to form a heart shape. Bake heart-shaped conchas for 18 minutes at 356 °F.
  • Serve heart-shaped conchas paired with a glass of milk.
