  • In a bowl, add ¼ cup of warm water and dissolve yeast.
  • Add half of the flour and knead until a dough is formed. Place dough ball on a plate and cover with plastic wrap. Let sit until dough doubles in size.
  • In a large bowl, mix remaining flour, eggs, orange essence, yolks, melted butter, sugar, and salt.
  • Add fermented dough and mix until a homogenous consistency is obtained.
  • Let sit on a covered plate at room temperature for 6 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 356 °F.
  • Form two dough rings with dough. Place each dough ring on a baking sheet. Insert plastic figurines making sure they are well-hidden in the dough.
  • Bake three kings cake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and garnish with candied fruit.
