Dissolve yeast in a bit of warm water.
Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of flour.
Mix thoroughly and let rest until doubled in size.
Let rest for about 30 to 40 minutes.
Sift flour on a table and pile it into a mound with a hole in the center.
Add remaining ingredients except for candied fruit.
Using your hands, knead, slap, and fold dough.
Let dough rise until doubled in size.
Using a rolling pin, roll out dough to a rectangle.
Place candied fruit and Baby Jesus plastic figurines in the center.
Fold edges into the center to make a thin rectangle. Shape it into a ring and place it on a baking sheet.
Brush ring with egg and garnish with candied fruit.
Bake traditional rosca de reyes at 356 °F for 25 minutes.
