  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups tuna, Basque-style
  • 1 egg, for brushing

  • Preheat oven to 356 ºF.
  • In a mixer, combine flour, water, salt, egg, butter, and baking powder. Mix until a dough is formed. Let sit for 20 minutes and set aside.
  • On a floured surface, roll out dough with a rolling pin until it is 0.1-inch thick. Using cookie cutters, cut Christmas trees, circles, and stars.
  • Place dough Christmas trees on a baking sheet. Add Basque-style tuna on top. Brush Christmas tree edges with egg. Place a dough Christmas tree on top and seal the empanada. Garnish with circles and stars. Brush empanadas with egg and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Serve Christmas Basque-style tuna empanadas immediately and garnish with cherry tomatoes and parsley.
