Traditional Aguachile

This traditional aguachile is definitely Instagram-worthy thanks to the combination of shrimp and cucumber slices marinated in lime juice. Served as a main dish, this traditional aguachile garnished with serrano chiles will leave you full, but still craving for more!

  • 30 shrimp
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 2 serrano chiles
  • 1 cucumber, cut into round and thin slices
  • 1/4 red onions, thinly sliced 
  • coarse salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

  • Peel, devein, and butterfly shrimp. Set aside in the fridge.
  • In a blender, combine lime juice and serrano chile and blend until smooth.
  • Cut cucumber, peeled or unpeeled, into thin slices. Cut one cucumber slice for each shrimp. Cut red onion into thin slices.
  • On a platter or large molcajete, arrange cucumber slices alternating with shrimp. Add red onion, salt, and pepper. Spoon blended mixture over the cucumber slices and shrimp. Garnish traditional aguachile with cilantro.
