Place potatoes in a pot with plenty of water. Add salt. Once water comes to a boil, cook for 20 minutes or until potatoes are very soft. Drain and set aside.
Heat whipping cream, butter, nutmeg, and salt in a small pot for 8 minutes over low heat. Stir constantly with a whisk to keep cream from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Set aside.
In a bowl, mash cream cheese and potatoes while still hot with a potato masher. Pour hot whipping cream little by little and keep mixing. Little by little, the desired texture will be obtained. It is not mandatory to add all the liquid.
Serve copycat KFC mashed potatoes topped with gravy.
