  • 2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 cups button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Maggi seasoning sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, finely chopped

  • 250 grams puff pastry
  • some egg yolk, for brushing
  • some fresh cilantro, finely chopped, for garnish

  • Preheat oven to 302 °F.
  • For the creamy mushroom filling: In a skillet over medium heat, fry onion and garlic with a bit of olive oil until translucent. Add mushrooms and let liquid reduce. Add cream cheese and season with Maggi seasoning sauce, cilantro, and salt if needed. Let cool and set aside.
  • On a floured surface, roll out puff pastry to 0.3-inch thickness. Using a round cutter of 1.9 inches in diameter, cut several discs. Cut out the center of half of the puff pastry discs with a round 1-inch cutter.
  • Using a bit of egg yolk, stick a puff pastry ring on top of a puff pastry disc to create a round chimney-like structure. Arrange them on a baking sheet. Brush thoroughly with more egg yolk and bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool.
  • Stuff vol-au-vents with creamy mushroom filling. Garnish creamy mushroom vol-au-vents with chopped cilantro.
