  • 1 tablespoon butter, for the bananas
  • 2 bananas
  • 1/2 cups raw sugar, for the bananas
  • some cinnamon powder, for the bananas
  • 1 1/4 cups cream cheese
  • 1 cup dulce de leche
  • 1 1/2 cups evaporated milk
  • 5 eggs
  • some cajeta
  • obleas, to decorate
  • some walnuts, for garnish
  • 2 star anise pods

  • Over low heat, heat evaporated milk, cinnamon, and star anise and bring to a boil. Cool and set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, heat butter. Melt a bit. Add bananas, raw sugar, and sprinkle cinnamon. Cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Set aside.
  • For the cheese mixture: Combine cream cheese, dulce de leche, previously heated evaporated milk, and eggs in a blender and blend until smooth. Set aside.
  • For the flan: Line flan cups or single-portion pans with cajeta. Add bananas and cheese mixture. Cook on the stove over medium heat on a water bath for about 30 minutes. Cool.
  • Unmold banana pecan flans. Garnish with chopped pecans and obleas.
