  • Peel and core apples. Cut apples into even small-sized cubes.
  • Place apple cubes in a pot with granulated sugar and a pinch of cinnamon powder. Cook over low heat until soft.
  • Flour a clean surface and a rolling pin. Roll out puff pastry to desired size, preferably 7.8x7.8 inches.
  • Cut same size strip on both sides. Fold the diagonal strips of dough in a criss-cross pattern forming a braid.
  • Drain apples to keep excess liquid from softening the puff pastry.
  • Spread apple filling down the center of the puff pastry. Place a bit less on the sides.
  • Beat an egg. Brush strudel. Bake in a preheated oven at 356 °F for 12 minutes or until brown.
  • Sprinkle braided apple strudel with icing sugar or cinnamon powder before serving.
