Easy Buñuelos with Dulce de Leche

  • 10 flour tortillas
  • 1 piloncillo, for the syrup
  • 1/4 cups water, for the syrup
  • 1 cinnamon stick, for the syrup
  • 2 star anise pods, for the syrup
  • 3 guavas, cut into round slices, for the syrup
  • 1 cup cream cheese, for the filling
  • 1 cup dulce de leche, for the filling
  • some whipped cream, for garnish
  • some guava, cut into halves, for garnish
  • some cinnamon, for garnish

  • In a skillet, fry flour tortillas over low heat until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil and set aside.
  • For the syrup: In a small pot, over medium heat, combine piloncillo, water, cinnamon, star anise pods, and guavas and cook until syrup is obtained. Let cool and set aside.
  • For the filling: Beat cream cheese until soft. Add dulce de leche and mix until perfectly incorporated.
  • On a wooden chopping board, make a tower with buñuelos. Add filling between each layer and cover with whipping cream. Garnish with guavas and cinnamon. Serve easy buñuelos with dulce de leche with syrup on the side.
