Mexican Telera Rolls

Who could resist some warm and homemade Mexican telera rolls? Not us and neither will you! Teleras are white, soft, and fluffy Mexican bread with two characteristic lengthwise slices and a crispy crust. Teleras can be paired with any meal and are also used to prepare tortas, guacamayas, guajolotas, and molletes but they can also be enjoyed with a bit of butter and sugar for a sweet treat.

  • Combine flour, sugar, salt, yeast, and water in a mixer. Using a c-shaped dough hook, mix until perfectly incorporated. Add butter and incorporate completely. Place dough in a bowl. Let rest for 30 minutes until it doubles its volume.
  • Punch down dough, portion, and shape the telera rolls. Let rest for 15 more minutes. Bake for 25 minutes at 392 °F. Remove from oven and let cool.
  • Pair Mexican telera rolls with butter and sugar.
