Preparation
In a bowl, cream vegetable shortening. Add masa dough little by little, chicken broth, baking powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
On a griddle, toast sesame seeds and dried chiles. In another bowl, combine toasted sesame seeds, dried chiles, and beans.
Form bean balls. Spread a bed of tamal dough on a corn husk and stuff with a bean ball. Cut the tips of the corn husks. Arrange tamales in a steamer and cook until cooked through.
Garnish Veracruz-style tamales with avocado cut into cubes and cream on top.
Serve avocado and beans Veracruz-style tamales garnished with avocado, cream, and cheese on top.
